India’s Largest Solar Park to Be Built In Gujarat At A Cost Of Rs 25 Crore

The country’s largest power company, is going to build the country’s largest solar park in Kutch, Gujarat. This park will be ready in the next 5 years. It is expected to cost 25 thousand crores to build this solar park with a capacity of 5 GW. The company can also invite bids from developers to set up projects in the park. NTPC has plans to build a solar power plant at Bilhore in Uttar Pradesh, Bareilly in Madhya Pradesh, besides Gujarat.

The project is part of NTPC’s objective of building 32 GW renewable energy capacity by 2032, through which NTPC will reduce fossil fuel share in its energy mix from 96% to 70%. In addition, NTPC is considering construction of a new 500 MW hydroelectric project in Himachal Pradesh, where the company already operates such a plant.

For the purpose of promoting clean energy, NTPC will not set up a new coal-based power plant for the next five years. At the same time, in the next three to four years, the coal base plant is planning to stop power generation from morning to night.
