While Indian officials are busy expressing disagreement over the ‘language and information’ of the communication from WhatsApp in the espionage case, the US court has issued warrants to two companies based in Israel. These two companies make spyware. Spyware is malware that installs in a computer without permission and then blows all the information.
The US court has issued warrants against sending ‘Pegasus’ malware to ‘NSO Group Technologies’ and ‘Q Cyber Technologies’ on about 1400 mobile phones worldwide. These warrants were issued by the Northern District Court of California on Friday. The court took this step after a Facebook-based messaging service company WhatsApp filed a civil lawsuit against both cyber intelligence companies.
Both the Israeli companies have been given 21 days to respond to the WhatsApp allegations or bring their motions before the court. These developments have taken place at the time when there is a lot of controversy between Indian officials and WhatsApp over the alleged spyware attack.
